The Collector’s Choice for a Reliable Luxury Experience
The Amaya 86 is a trusty and reliable manual typewriter, representing the height of playful, modernist European design from the late 1970s. Celebrated for its bold, blocky typography and high-contrast aesthetic, the Amaya 86 combines an eye-catching shell with the time-tested, rugged metal mechanics of eastern European engineering. Professionally cleaned, polished, and tested, this unit is in absolute mint condition, offering an incredibly smooth carriage glide and a snappy tactile response.

Detailed Condition Note
The aesthetic is in pristine, mint condition. The high-gloss slate blue ribbon cover and contrasting light grey body panels are flawlessly preserved, entirely free from the scratches, cracks, or yellowing that usually plague plastics from this decade. Mechanically, it operates like a dream. The typebar alignment is perfectly straight, the carriage return lever pulls smoothly, and the keys strike with a light, snappy mechanism that requires very little effort. It comes complete with its original protective transporting case, keeping this mid-century survivor safe for decades to come. The backspace key is missing and the color selector needs to be slightly adjusted.
The Writer’s Choice
This is more than a gift; it is a sturdy legacy tool for a lifetime of stories. Whether you are a creative writer looking for an inspiring, high-energy analog companion to sit on your desk or a seasoned collector tracking down rare, distinctively branded typography variants, the Amaya 86 is an elite investment.

The jacket was beautiful but arms soo short for me - so it made a good gift for a friend
The typewriter arrived from Europe to the US sooner than scheduled which was a wonderful surprise. It was carefully wrapped so there was no damage at all. It was exactly as shown in photos online.
