Antique Working Oil Lamp Lempereur and Bernard Cranberry Glass
El Rastro Antique's Warehouses
An Antique Belgian Oil Lamp With Cranberry Glass and Marble
The burner marking reads "Lempereur & Bernard" — a genuinely historic name in antique lighting, though Belgian rather than French. Founded in Herstal, near Liège, in 1868, the maker became famous for its patented center-draft burner (patented 1883), sold across Europe as "La Lampe Belge."
This example pairs that celebrated burner with a striking body: a swirled cranberry art glass font, a rose marble column, and an ornately cast silvered metal base with scrolling foliate and figural relief work, stamped "Déposé" underneath.
Why You'll Love It
- Presented as fully working — burner and wick mechanism operate smoothly
- Genuine cranberry (ruby) art glass font with swirled optic pattern
- Rose marble column and ornate silvered metal base
- Burner marked "L'Empereur & Bernard Brevete", patented 1883 design
- Base stamped "Déposé" (registered design), consistent with the era

The jacket was beautiful but arms soo short for me - so it made a good gift for a friend
The typewriter arrived from Europe to the US sooner than scheduled which was a wonderful surprise. It was carefully wrapped so there was no damage at all. It was exactly as shown in photos online. All of the keys and functions work perfectly and I’ve been using it regularly with no issue. Highly recommend this business if you’re looking for a stress-free vintage purchase!
